WASHINGTON, DC (July 30, 2020) — For the past 17 years, DCUC has supported military and veteran charities as an intrinsic part of its Annual Conference. Together, DCUC members, guests, speakers, and sponsors have raised nearly $350,000 for military charities across the nation. Despite being separated by distance this year during our Annual Conference week, rather than cancelling the annual fundraiser, DCUC is going digital.

This year’s charity of choice is the American Gold Star Mothers of Northern California. All members of this organization are mothers whose sons and daughters made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. These mothers work to keep the memory of their children alive by turning their “Sorrow into Service” and serving the military, their families, and communities. In particular, the American Gold Star Mothers of Northern California provide socks, lunches, holiday gifts, blankets, gloves, and coffees for veterans at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. Their volunteer service to their community also includes serving meals to homeless Veterans and supporting those suffering emotionally and physically following their military service.

DCUC’s digital fundraiser will bring our annual Silent Auction and Patriotic Blanket Raffle online to raise money for this important organization. As with every year, our fundraiser would not be possible without the generosity of DCUC members and sponsors, who have donated items for bidding. This is especially true of Eileen Ehrsam, who has made her seventh patriotic quilt to raffle off. Each of these blankets is a work of art, and this year’s is no exception.

DCUC invites everyone to participate in the Silent Auction and Blanket Raffle. All money raised in the Silent Auction will be generously matched by the DCUC Board of Directors.

DCUC gives its heartfelt thanks for the support and generosity that we see each year during this fundraiser. The defense credit union community is one of the most giving and one that DCUC is proud to be a part of and serve. Again, thank you for everything you do in serving those who serve our country, and we hope that you can join us together in spirit for this fundraiser.

The Defense Credit Union Council is a trade association representing the interests of federal and state-chartered credit unions serving our military around the globe. By maintaining a close and constant liaison with the Pentagon, the Council supports its member credit unions and the Department of Defense (DOD) in coordinating policy, procedures, and legislation impacting morale and welfare, financial readiness, and the delivery of quality financial products and services to DOD personnel and their families. Organized in 1963, the Council’s membership is comprised of 180 credit unions with over 25 million members.
